Minecraft is an adventure, world-building game that was originally created as an independent video game. It was later bought by Microsoft which gave it much more publicity. Minecraft is a game that allows players to control the world and do what they want within it. The game is very open-ended and unstructured, and players can do whatever they want. The game can be played in many ways, including single-player and multiplayer. Multiplayer is when players can work together to build things or create adventures. Minecraft is a sandbox game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. Players can break these cubes down again, thus gaining materials (e.g. wood, stone, and iron ore) which can be used to build further. The player is able to interact with the world in a number of ways, including crafting, mining, and combat.
Minecraft has gameplay comparable to a 3D adventure game, except that the player creates much of the world.
There are two types of worlds in Minecraft, the first being "survival mode", where the player is abandoned in a randomly generated world with no weapons or tools, and must gather resources – mainly blocks of wood, stone, dirt and ore – to build the things they need to live, such as a shelter and tools.
In the second mode, "creative mode", the player is given the freedom to do whatever they want, and can fly around the world and spawn blocks, items, or creatures. Players can also choose to play as different characters.
Minecraft is a very simple game when it comes to graphics. It is not a realistic game and the graphics are fairly basic. There are some 3D elements in the game, but for the most part, it is a 2D game.
